Cong to hold Samvidhan Bachao, Bharat Bachao rally today
The mega march an issue of prestige for PCC chief Pritam Singh
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Pritam Singh has made the success of the proposed Samvidhan Bachao, Bharat Bachao rally, an issue of prestige for himself. Singh who had recently suspended the old Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) is likely to get an extension on the post of the PCC president. After suspending the old PCC, the Samvidhan Bachao rally would be the first major test of Pritam Singh and he has thrown his full weight behind the success of the rally.
To increase pressure on the Union government, the central leaders of the Congress party buoyed by the success of the recent rally in Delhi have given a call to hold marches in all the state capitals on Saturday.
To ensure success of the rally, the PCC President is in regular contact with senior leaders and functionaries of the party. The attendance in the rally is expected to be good as the party leaders hoping to find a place in the new PCC would attend the programme along with their supporters.
For the programme, the Uttarakhand Congress has constituted different committees and the PCC president himself is in regular touch with the in -charges of these committees.
Exuding confidence about success of the march, Singh said that the Samvidhan Bachao, Bharat Bachao march would be historic in terms of attendance.
He said that the successful rally organised by the Congress party under leadership of Sonia Gandhi at Ramlila ground recently and the results of assembly elections of Jharkhand have proved that the people of the country are fed up with the anti people and anti constitution polices of the government and is eager to throw BJP out of power.
He said that the Narendra Modi led BJP government is taking decisions that are against the basic principles of the constitution. He claimed that the decisions of government have created an atmosphere of fear and anarchy in the whole country. He said that under the BJP rule, the poor, minorities, women and farmers are finding themselves unsafe and an atmosphere of fear is prevailing in the state.
For the rally, the leaders and workers of Congress party would assemble at the state headquarters of the party at 11 am on Saturday. The Congressmen would then start a foot march which will pass through Gandhi Park, Clock Tower, Paltan Market, Raja Road, Gandhi road and culminate at the Rajiv Bhawan on Rajpur Road.
Informing about the proposed march, the state general secretary of the Congress party, Vijay Saraswat said that leaders and workers from all parts of the state would participate in the rally.
