PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has accused the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women and the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights for being mute spectators on the increasing cases of crime against women and children in the State.

Interacting with the media-persons at Rajiv Bhawan here on Wednesday, Dhasmana said that Uttarakhand has got a dubious distinction of being at top in the cases of crime against women among the Himalayan States.

“I want to ask the head of child commission, women commission and state unit of BJP Mahila Morcha that whether they have taken notice of the case involving Anamika Sharma, the former president of Mahila Morcha of Haridwar in which she is accused of abetting in rape of her 13 year old daughter or not. Have anyone of them have met the victim or taken any action?’’

Dhasmana said that it is interesting to note that the women heads of these three organisations take active part in the dispute involving Hindu and Muslims but they kept quiet in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. He said that the silence of the women leaders of BJP is shameful in the case involving Anamika Sharma and exposes the real face of the BJP.

Dhasmana said that the Congress party will continue to raise its voice against increasing cases of violence against women and children.
