The Uttarakhand Congress has taken the state government to task for severe shortage of vaccines in the government centres and easy availability of paid vaccines in the private hospitals.

The Member of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Garima Dasauni said that the whole episode appears as a matter of finding opportunity in the disaster. She questioned as to why the state government is not able to receive its quota even as it has made advance payment for 1.75 vaccine doses.

The Congress leader said that the people are forced to shell out Rs 900 at private centres for a single dose of vaccine as it is not available in government centres.  The spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Pratima Singh also took pot-shots at the government for vaccine shortage. She said that the severe reprimand by the Supreme Court (SC) to the government on the scarcity and different rates of vaccines in the country prove that both the union and state governments are misleading the people.
