Confusion prevails over Champion’s expulsion
The Bharatiya Janata Party had expelled Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ from the party for six years in July this year. This decision had been taken by the party’s central disciplinary committee in the wake of a viral clip showing the MLA dancing purportedly drunk toting guns and using abusive language. However, confusion was sparked off regarding this decision when the Vidhan Sabha speaker Prem Chand Agrawal said on Tuesday that he had not received any such letter from the party concerned.
Responding to query by media persons about whether the seating arrangement of the Khanpur MLA would be changed following his expulsion from the BJP, the speaker said that there would be no such change. He further said that he not received any official communication or letter from the party concerned regarding the MLA’s expulsion. Meanwhile, MLA and coordinator of the three-member committee formed by BJP to probe the controversy resulting from the spat between Champion and his Jhabreda counterpart Deshraj Karnwal, Khajan Das said that Champion’s behaviour had been decent since the party had initiated disciplinary action against him. However, reinstating his party membership or taking any decision regarding him was up to the leader of the House, he added.
