U’khand Govt hospitals to have NABH Accreditation

Minister Dhan Singh Rawat sets up a high power committee for helping the hospitals in preparing for the certification

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed that all the government hospitals of Uttarakhand should start preparation for getting the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH) certification. The minister has set up an eight member high power committee headed by the director general (DG) of state health services for helping the hospitals in getting the NABH accreditation. In a statement released on Thursday the minister said that the government hospitals would have to apply for NABH accreditation and for it they should start preparations. He said that an eight member committee headed by DG health services Dr Shailja Bhatt has been constituted for NABH accreditation. The committee would have Director National Health Mission (NHM) Dr Saroj Naithani, joint director planning Dr R P Khanduri, joint director administration Dr Kailash Joshi, assistant director Para medical Dr J S Chufal, Assistant Director Covid cell Dr Garima Pant, drawing and disbursing Officer Shailendra Singh Butola and Additional project director Redcross Dr Amit Shukla as members. The minister informed that in the first phase the committee would undertake inspection of the district and sub district hospitals and would give suggestions on fulfilling the norms for accreditation certification. Rawat said that the decision on accreditation certification is an important step in the direction of improving the health system in the state. He said that assessment of the resources, facilities, amenities, treatment of patients, infection free environment, necessary procedures for treatment, doctors, nurses and other staff and their qualification would be checked under the process of accreditation of NABH.
