Complaints by senior citizens increase in public hearings, DM orders prompt action

In view of the consistent rise in complaints from senior citizens, the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika has directed sub divisional magistrates and circle officers of police to take immediate action in such cases. She said that the number of complaints by senior citizens in public hearings has increased in recent days. The complaints are mainly about their maintenance and domestic violence. They seek help from the administration for speedy action on their complaints considering which the respective SDMs and COs have been directed to take immediate action on such complaints as per the laws. In the public hearing on Monday, the DM received 97 complaints on issues including land disputes, land demarcation, encroachment, misuse of government funds and issues of senior citizens, among others. She also asked the Vikasnagar SDM to take cognisance of land disputes following complaints from the area. She also directed the officials of the Public Works Department and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to take cognisance of the complaint about the dug up footpath in Dilaram Chowk which is causing inconvenience to commuters. She instructed PWD to act against encroachment on its land in the Defense Colony area. She also directed the officials to investigate the complaint of misuse of government funds in the Asai village of Chakrata. She instructed the officials to go to the field to personally tackle the complaints received during the hearing.
