Dr Khanna new SCPCR chairperson; Kandwal to head Women commission

The Pushkar Singh Dhami government made appointments in two key positions just hours before the declaration of the election dates by the Election Commission (EC) and enforcement of model code of conduct (MCC) on Saturday. On the vacant post of Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) the government has appointed Dr Geeta Khanna. This post has been lying vacant since May last year when the term of Usha Negi ended. Incidentally, Dr Khanna is the sister of senior BJP leader Vishwas Dabar. In another appointment the government appointed BJP leader Kusum Kandwal as chairperson of state commission for women.

Apart from appointing a new chairperson the government also appointed six members in the SCPCR on Saturday. The members are Deepak Gulati, Rekha Rautela, Suman Rai, Vinod Kaparwan, Dharam Singh and Ajay Verma.
