Coming days likely to be colder in plains

Even as rainfall on Saturday resulted in a marked drop in temperature in different parts of the state, the next three-four days are likely to be colder than normal in the plains of four districts in the state. Considering this, the state meteorological centre has advised the general public to observe necessary precautions.

According to the meteorological centre, the maximum temperature is likely to remain four to six degrees Celsius below normal with average daily temperature of about 15 degrees Celsius in some parts of Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and plains of Pauri and Nainital districts during the next three-four days from Sunday. Considering this, the general public is advised to take necessary precautions against cold weather during these days.

Meanwhile, dry weather is likely to prevail in the state on Sunday. However, dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in some parts of the plains especially in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and plains of Pauri and Nainital districts. On Sunday, Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Fog/mist is also likely to occur in the southern part of the city with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 23 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively on Sunday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Saturday were 21.6 degrees Celsius and 12.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 19.3 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 8.5 degrees Celsius and 6.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 7.4 degrees Celsius and three degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
