Despite the purchase of street lights at four times the market price by Khatima municipality, the constituency of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is still shrouded in darkness. Dhami and his acquaintances are apparently involved in this alleged scam too as no action has been taken on the matter so far. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made these allegations against the CM on Wednesday.

The vice president of the party, Amit Joshi said that as per information received under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Khatima municipality purchased 4,000 street lights at the rate of Rs 5,355 per light when the usual rates are Rs 1,200 per light. He alleged, “The officials of the municipality have spent a total of Rs 2.14 crore on inferior quality street lights which they bought at four times the market price which is a big scam. The streets of Khatima are still shrouded in darkness at night that leads to accidents on a frequent basis.” He stressed that when the condition of CM’s own constituency is such, one can easily imagine the conditions of other constituencies in the state.

He said that corruption is at its peak in the state under the current state government in almost all the departments but nothing is being done by the CM. “We demand that Dhami take action against the culprits. If the government fails to take cognisance of the matter soon, we will start a state-wide protest against the government,” added Joshi.
