The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department minister, Rekha Arya expressed her gratitude for the approval of the regulations governing the Chief Minister’s women and child multifaceted corpus fund during a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Arya stated that the funds for this corpus would be generated through a cess on liquor sales.
This fund will provide financial assistance to children, women and adolescents from economically weaker sections and those who have become orphans due to a disaster or accident. The aid will cover essential needs such as living expenses, food, health care, education and skill development.
Additionally, if the job of any eligible person is threatened due to a disaster or accident, he or she may also receive support from this fund, she said.
Arya said that a key feature of this scheme is its provision for immediate assistance. “These rules establish a time frame for processing applications, ensuring a streamlined process.
Upon receiving an application from an eligible individual, a joint team at the block level can promptly release a maximum amount of Rs 5,000. Following this, a district-level committee will decide on further assistance, which can range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 within 15 working days. The approved funds will be disbursed through DBT,” she added.
She further said that for cases requiring additional financial support, a committee at the State level would be established to review and approve proposals for sums of up to Rs five Lakh.
