On the birth anniversary of brave warrior Teelu Rauteli, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat presented the State Stree Shakti Teelu Rauteli Award to 21 women and girls while also felicitating 22 Anganwadi workers on Saturday. The award recipients of Dehradun district were presented the award by the CM while those in other districts were present via video conferencing and received the awards in the presence of the local MLAs and district magistrates.
The CM announced on the occasion that from next year the Teelu Rauteli award money will be raised from Rs 21,000 to Rs 31,000 while the Anganwadi worker award money will be raised from Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000. Rawat said, “Women and men have equal participation for ensuring all-round development of society. The need of these times is to ensure equal economic empowerment of women and men. To strengthen women economically, women farmers and self help groups are being provided interest free loan of upto Rs five lakh. For improvement of agriculture, earlier were being provided loan at two per cent interest. Considering their better work in this field, they will now be provided up to Rs three lakh interest free loan.”
Rawat further referred to the vital role of women in the state’s development. He said that the central and state governments are operating various schemes to facilitate economic self reliance of women. There is provision for keeping orphans and children without support in orphanages where the number of girls is more. They are let out after cross 18 years age. To provide better employment opportunities to them, the state government has started a unique initiative by providing five per cent reservation to them in government services.
The CM presented the Teelu Rauteli award to badminton player and coach Unnati Bisht, Sangeeta Thapliyal for making masks, providing training and helping in foodgrains distribution and Geeta Maurya for helping in formation of self help groups, distribution of take home ration and preparation of nutritious food for malnourished children. He also felicitated a number of Anganwadi workers for better execution of departmental works. Those who received the award in other districts include Preeti Bhandari, Shivani Arya, Gunjan Bala, Janki Chand, Shahi Devli, Pushpanjali Agrawal, Kanchan Bhandari, Malvika Maya Upadhyay, Suman Verma, Sheetal, Madhu Khugshal, Kirti Kumari, Babita Rawat, Jyoti Upreti, Meenu Lata Gupta, Harsha Rawat, Sumati Thapliyal and Chandrakala Rai. The State minister for Women and Child Development, Rekha Arya was also present on the occasion.
