CM pitches for Yoga campaign up to village level in Uttarakhand

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to start a Yoga campaign up to the village level in the State. He said that Yoga is an ancient tradition of our country and it is an effective medium of striking a balance between today’s lifestyle and health. The CM presided over a meeting held at the State secretariat on preparation for International Yoga Day (June 21) on Saturday. He directed that the youth, students, government employees and general public should be included in this programme.
The CM said since Uttarakhand is the sacred land of Yoga and from here its message has spread across the entire world, the programmes held here should be unique, majestic and organised with public participation.
He said that women should be connected with Yoga in large numbers. The CM suggested that along with Yoga, a plantation campaign should be organised in the State. He said that Yoga and Ayush fairs should be organised at districts and Yog should be connected with employment.
Dhami said that Uttarakhand has a special place globally as Devbhoomi and Yogbhoomi and efforts should be made to present the spiritual aspect of Yoga.
The CM said that on June 21, programmes on large scale should be organised at all the religious centres and mountainous areas. He directed the AYUSH, Education, Youth Welfare, Tourism, Health and Information departments to work in coordination for the successful organisation of the Yoga campaign.
Chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretaries Shailesh Bagauli, Ravinath Raman, Sachin Kurve and ADG AP Anshuman, additional secretary Vijay Jogdande and director general of Information Banshidhar Tiwari attended the meeting.
