CM orders pothole-free roads in State by October 15

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to ensure that all the roads of the State are free of potholes before October 15. He said that the roads which are currently closed should be made operational as soon as possible.

Dhami said that work should be done on war footing to normalise the situation in all the areas affected by heavy rains in the state.  The CM gave these instructions during the review meeting of the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation department on Tuesday. 

He directed the secretaries, department heads and district magistrates to regularly review the reconstruction works and permanent treatment of roads should be done at places which are sensitive to disaster. The process of displacement of people from the disaster affected villages should also be done soon.  On a terse note the CM said that it should be ensured that the general public does not face any kind of problem and for this all the departments should work in coordination.

 He said that the damage caused in the disaster affected areas should be assessed and compensation should be given as per the norms.  The CM directed that all DMs should work to make their district a model district.  He said that proper arrangements should be made to prevent water borne and vector borne disease after the end of monsoon and the Health department should organize awareness campaigns for these diseases. 

The CM warned that any kind of negligence in sanitation works will not be tolerated.  He directed that all the municipal corporations, municipal councils and nagar panchayats should ensure cleanliness of all the roads under their jurisdiction.

 It was informed in the meeting that a sum of Rs 427.87 crore has been allocated in the State for protection from natural disasters in the financial year 2024-25.  Apart from this a sum of Rs 95 crore is also being given to different departments ( Rs 50 Crore for PWD, Rs 20 Crore to Peyajal, Rs 15 Crore to PMGSY and Rs 10 Crore for UPCL)  for reconstruction and rehabilitation works from the  State disaster relief fund. 

The meeting was attended by vice chairman of State disaster management advisory committee Vinay Rohila, chief secretary Radha Raturi, additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram,  Shailesh Bagoli and Vinod Kumar Suman, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and others.
