CM interacts with various fraternities ahead of Assembly budget session

In order to strengthen the State’s economy, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with representatives of those in agriculture, horticulture, industry, business and other groups on Sunday. He said that an attempt will be made to include the suggestions received during the interaction in the coming budget.

Stressing on the importance of public participation in development, Dhami said that there are limited job opportunities in the government sector so self employment will have to be made into a movement. He said that joint efforts are needed for action on suggestions and solutions. He said that the government is also working on suggestions from national and international experts for integrated development of Uttarakhand. Recalling that he also spends the night at homestays while touring districts, the CM said that homestays are becoming sources of self employment and economic development in rural areas. “We have rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, Kali and Sharda with 71 per cent of our geographical area covered by forests and mountains. Every area is a destination in our State. We are trying to move forward with our rich heritage,” said Dhami.

He further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is is building its identity as a progressive nation. Despite the Covid-19 epidemic, the nation’s economy climbed to the fifth position from the 10th position globally. The CM said that Uttarakhand too is moving forward with innovations while expressing hope that the interaction on Sunday will pave the way to solutions of various problems.

Finance minister Prem Chand Agrawal said that efforts to seek suggestions from subject experts before the budget had been undertaken the previous year also. An attempt will be made to incorporate suggestions received here into the budget, he said. Along with the government, all responsible citizens and experts also play an important role in ensuring the desired development in the State, said Agrawal.

Additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan said that this initiative for interaction was undertaken on the directions of the CM. This will help in strengthening the economy and speed up development. Such efforts are also motivational for efforts aimed at development of basic facilities in various parts of the State, providing employment according to capacity and ability of citizens and bringing prosperity in the lives of citizens, he said. Dehradun district Panchayat chairperson Madhu Chauhan and Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ also expressed their views on the occasion.
