Saturday, 26 May 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– Arrangements would be made for landing sea-plane on the Tehri dam reservoir next year with a survey already being conducted for this. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this after inaguruating the Tehri lake festival on Friday. The CM also unveiled foundation stone for and inaugurated various schemes worth Rs 31.95 crore. In his address, Rawat averred that the cabinet meeting held on the Tehri lake on May 16 was significant and that the step would help bring special recognition to Tehri in the field of tourism in future. He said that in order to give further boost to tourism in Uttarakhand, the Government has envisaged ‘13 Districts 13 New Destinations’, in which Tehri Lake in Tehri district has also been included. Through events like the Tehri lake festival, the location will emerge as major tourist destination at international level. There are immense possibilities here in the field of wellness, Yoga, adventure and films, he added. The State Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj said that with industry status being accorded to tourism, it will become a source of livelihood in the State. Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and others were also present on the occasion.


Uttarakhand Governor Krishan Kant Paul teed off in the morning to inaugurate the 16th Governor’s Golf Cup tournament at the Raj Bhawan course here on Friday. On the first day, about 50 golfers played on the course. Talking informally to the media, the Governor said that the Raj Bhawan golf club is attempting to develop Nainital into a prominent destination also for golfers.
