Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed appointment letters to 1,456 newly recruited lecturer teachers, review and assistant officers at a programme organised at Government Doon Medical College on Tuesday. Out of the 1,456 candidates, 109 review officers and assistant review officers were selected through the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission, while 1,347 assistant teachers (LT) were chosen through the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC).

The CM emphasised that this opportunity marks a significant milestone in the lives of the candidates and is crucial for laying the foundation for the State’s bright future. He encouraged the newly appointed youth to perform their duties with complete integrity, transparency and dedication.

Dhami said that a robust administrative system is the most crucial foundation of any State’s governance. He stated that when a child receives a good education, they not only enhance their own lives but also make invaluable contributions to society and the country. It is the responsibility of teachers to not only provide quality education but also to instill a sense of responsibility towards society and the nation, helping students become good citizens.

He further said that the State government is consistently working to modernise and improve the education system. Efforts are being made to implement comprehensive reforms at every level, from school infrastructure to digitalisation. Several essential steps have been taken to ensure a transparent and fair recruitment process. Dhami said that over the past four years, more than 25,000 youth have secured government jobs in the State. This number is more than double the total jobs created during the tenure of previous governments since the State’s formation, he said.

He added that recently, an incident of cheating was reported at an examination centre in Haridwar. The government took immediate action by arresting the accused and forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter. To protect the interests of the youth and in response to their demands, the government decided to recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry and to cancel the exam, he said.

Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the appointment process in the Education department will continue, with upcoming appointments for Block Resource Coordinators (BRC), Cluster Resource Persons (CRP), basic teachers and Class IV positions. He informed the newly appointed teachers would be placed in remote areas and would be required to serve in those locations for a few years.
