CM Dhami inspects flood-hit Sanji village in Pauri

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster-affected Sanji village in Pauri district on Thursday to assess the situation and meet the affected families. He interacted with local residents and took note of the damage caused by the recent disaster. Dhami assured the villagers that the State government stands with them and directed the district administration to ensure there are no shortcomings in relief distribution. Before the ground inspection, the CM conducted an aerial survey of affected areas including Bankuda in Thalisain tehsil. He later met disaster-affected families in Nautha village and handed over relief cheques to five families from Buransi. Dhami visited houses in Sanji village using damaged routes and personally reviewed the damage. Affected families shared their concerns and thanked him for the ongoing relief efforts. He urged people not to feel alone during this crisis and assured them of the State’s support. He instructed officials to speed up rehabilitation and relocation procedures. He ordered the officials to complete the damage assessment at the earliest and shift residents to safer locations. He also directed authorities to ensure essential facilities like electricity, water, toilets, medicines and food are available in relief camps. Dhami instructed a survey to be conducted through Wadia Institute. He also ordered the deployment of mobile medical units in the villages to strengthen health services. He directed the Health department to ensure the availability of medical consultation and treatment for the sick, elderly, pregnant women, children and other affected individuals. He instructed officials to maintain a constant supply of essential medicines, first-aid kits and medical staff in the affected areas. 

Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat thanked the CM and suggested the formation of a committee for rehabilitation. He also requested that priority be given to shop and house owners whose properties were damaged. The Pauri district magistrate Sawati Bhadauria informed Dhami that the administration has prepared the list of affected families and relief material and funds are being distributed. She said that administrative teams are reaching every village and no one will be left out. 

During the visit, Dhami also approved financial assistance of Rs 1.3 lakh per household to 15 house owners of Sanji village under the State disaster response fund. Cheques were distributed to the concerned families. In Buransi village, the families of Asha Devi and Vimla Devi, who died in the disaster, received Rs two lakh each from the CM’s relief fund. Keshar Singh, whose house in Buransi was completely damaged, received Rs1.3 lakh as compensation through cheque.
