Giving a gift to the sisters, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a free ride for women in the buses of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) on the day of Rakshabandhan.
Acting on the directive of CM Dhami, the transport secretary A S Hyanki issued an order to the Managing Director (MD) of UTC asking him to give 100 per cent rebate in fare in the buses of the corporation on Raksha Bandhan ( August 12) . The rebate would be applicable for one day and travel within the state. The secretary said that the corporation would be compensated by the state government for the rebate given to women commuters.
The free bus ride is offered to women every year on Rakshabandhan day by the state government.
