Ending a long wait, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has finally appointed minister in charge for all the 13 districts of the state. In an order on Tuesday, the state government has handed over the charge of Haridwar district to senior cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj while Prem Chand Agarwal would be in charge of Uttarkashi and Tehri districts. Similarly Ganesh Joshi would be the in charge of Udham Singh Nagar, Dhan Singh Rawat of Almora and Chamoli and Subodh Uniyal would be in charge of Dehradun district. Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya would look after Nainital and Champawat, Chandan Ram Das the charge of Pauri and Pithoragarh while Saurabh Bahuguna would be in charge of Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts.

These appointments assume importance since the meetings of the district planning and monitoring committees were not being held in absence of the minister in charge. The budget of the district plan under which many developmental works are undertaken could not be used since the meetings were not being held ever since the new government was sworn in. The appointments of the minister in charge by the CM Dhami on Tuesday have paved the way for the holding of the meetings of the district plan.
