CM begins review of cabinet ministers’ departments

Schemes being implemented through State and Centrally funded projects in the Urban Development and Housing department should be implemented effectively. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat issued this direction while reviewing the functioning of these and other departments under cabinet minister Madan Kaushik here on Thursday.

Addressing the officials, the CM said that timely implementation of the schemes ensures timely benefit to the intended beneficiary while preventing unnecessary hike in the project cost. He stressed on the need for laying special focus on achieving the set targets in Swachchh Bharat Mission, Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana, Deendayal Antyoday Yojana, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Rawat also instructed that the Pradhanmantri Swanidhi Yojana should be effectively implemented in all the 91 local bodies in the state. The tasks of forming vending committees and facilitating bank loans for the beneficiaries should be expedited. He said that the district magistrates should also be accorded responsibility for this. He further directed that construction of bus stations and parking facilities in mountainous regions should also be expedited. Plans for smart parking facilities in tourist destinations like Nainital and Mussoorie among others should also be prepared. Initiative should be taken for private partnership for this, he added.

The CM further stressed on the need to focus on preparing master plans for local bodies for which funds have also been made available. Master plan and detailed planning of local area will help in development of the local bodies and infrastructural facilities. He further said that the online map approving system should be made effective and the draft of the policy to be prepared for this purpose should be presented in the next cabinet meeting. He also spoke of ascertaining a policy for resolution of problems experienced by various authorities.

Urban development secretary Shailesh Bagauli and Dehradun Smart City Limited chief executive officer Ashish Kumar Srivastava also informed the CM about various aspects related to urban development and housing. Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik and other officials concerned were also present in the review meeting.
