Classes VI to XII to resume from Aug 2, Assembly session from August 23

All schools will resume classes for students of classes VI to XII from August 2. Further, the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha will be held between August 23 and 27. These and other decisions were taken in the meeting of the cabinet presided over by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami here on Tuesday.

Informing about the decisions taken in the meeting, cabinet minister and state government spokesman Subodh Uniyal said that Kausani in Bageshwar district will be upgraded from Gram Panchayat to Nagar Panchayat. A detailed project report will be prepared on the suitability of land for the proposed greenfield airport in Udham Singh Nagar district.

The DPR will be prepared with the special consultancy services of the Airports Authority of India. The cabinet also granted its approval to distribution of additional foodgrains to state food scheme beneficiaries for three months- May to July this year.

It was also decided that all students passing the preliminary exam of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be provided Rs 50,000 each while 100 selected students who pass the preliminary exam of the Uttarakhand PCS will also be provided Rs 50,000. Similarly, Rs 50,000 will be provided to those who pass the written exam of NDA and CDS before their interview.The principals appointed on contract in government medical colleges of Haridwar, Pithoragarh and Rudrapur have been granted financial and administrative authority for salary, office expense and payment of allowances. The cabinet also granted its approval to a four member committee under retired chief secretary IK Pande for redressal of issues related to pay disparities.

Further, approval was also granted to Rs 197.85 crore financial relief package to help those affected by the adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the Char Dham Yatra and tourism activities. This will include Rs 10,000 each to 549 registered boat operators in Naini, Naukuchiatal, Bhimtal, Sattal and Sadiatal in Nainital district. Further, 671 beneficiaries operating in Naini lake will get boat renewal fee relaxation for 2021-22 while cultural troupes will be provided Rs 2,000 per month for five months. Relaxation will also be granted on trekking and peak fees.

The cabinet also authorised the chief minister to grant Rs 51.24 crore for three months salaries of transport corporation employees on the direction of the Uttarakhand high court.
