PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

A chest physician has recently begun working at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital. Informing about this, the medical superintendent, Dr VS Chauhan, said that, until now, there had been no dedicated chest physician at the hospital. Conditions such as respiratory issues, asthma and pneumonia were previously managed by the physicians employed at the district hospital. Four permanent physicians were responsible for treating patients with these ailments. However, with the recent initiative from the DG of Health, Dr RKS Ahluwalia has joined the hospital as the new chest physician and has commenced his duties.

Ahuluwalia has been hired by the hospital on a contractual basis, having previously served as the medical superintendent at the Premnagar Hospital, he stated.

Dr Chauhan added that the addition of the chest physician will help alleviate the workload for other physicians. Moreover, the new specialist will effectively handle the treatment of asthma, respiratory problems and other related conditions. He informed that the chest physician will be available during the OPD hours from 8 AM to 2 PM at the hospital. Dr Chauhan said that he himself has been working to enhance patient facilities over time. He said that many facilities have been upgraded or are in process to better accommodate patients at the hospital.

Apart from this, Dr Chauhan conducted an inspection of the hospital to assess the available facilities on the premises on Thursday. He said that he has been carrying out regular inspections at the hospital. During this visit, he examined the hygiene standards and various amenities. If any issues were identified, he provided clear instructions to the relevant officials to address them promptly, he said.
