Chauhan submits investigation report in MCH land scam case

The investigation in the multi crore land scam in Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) is complete. The head of the investigation committee, additional secretary Ranvir Singh Chauhan submitted his report to the Secretary Urban Development Nitesh Jha on Thursday.

 Chauhan told The Pioneer that the report has been submitted to the State administration for necessary action.

 It is pertinent to mention here that the investigation was ordered by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the alleged land purchase scam by the MCH. It is alleged that the irregularities occurred in the purchase of 33 bighas of land by the MCH. This land in question was adjacent to the waste management plant of the MCH and it is alleged that its land use was converted from agricultural to commercial days before its purchase by the MCH. It is alleged that the then additional district magistrate (ADM) Ajayvir Singh changed the land use of the land in question in October 2024 and after some days this land was purchased by the MCH. The alleged scam occurred during the tenure of Varun Chaudhary as the Municipal Commissioner of MCH.

 The scam came to fore when the Mayor of MCH, Kiran Jaisal submitted a complaint in this regard to the CM Dhami.
