Chakrata farmers learn about drone spraying

The Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun organised a drone spraying demonstration and farmers’ seminar in Echhala and Phateu villages of Chakrata. The principal investigator of agriculture drone project at ICAR-IISWC, M Sankar informed the farmers about spraying chemicals and nutrients from drones in addition to informing them about the drone related schemes for farmers. Other officials of the institute informed the farmers about the benefits of spraying by drone.

The Echala Gram Pradhan Sunil shared his views on drone technology and helped in drone demonstration on farmers’ fields. During the demonstration, spraying was done using a drone in the fields of farmers of Echala, Phateu, Phata and Samalta villages over the crops  including peas, wheat, barley, garlic and onion. The programme held in adopted villages of the institute’s TSP scheme and executed under the drone demonstration project was attended by about 40 farmers.
