State Govt teachers’ association threatens strike

Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the organisation of government school lecturers and teachers, has threatened to go on strike if its demands are not accepted by the government before September 25.

In a letter to the director of education, the general secretary of the RSS, Ramesh Painyuli said that in a meeting held with the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat on August 4,  agreement on many issues was reached but no action was taken by the department on them. He said that it was decided that the promotion on the posts of lecturers and head masters will be done within two months.

It was also decided that the monthly examinations will be taken twice a year and the list of the teachers for inter divisional transfer will be prepared. Painyuli said that it was also decided that the lecturers drawing a grade pay of Rs 5,400 will be made gazetted officers. He said that the department has taken no action on these demands on which agreement was reached. 

Painyuli said that the department should accept the demands before September 25 failing which the association will be forced to take the step of going on strike.
