Central task force monitors deregulation initiatives of Uttarakhand

The progress of deregulation and ease of doing business initiatives in Uttarakhand was reviewed by a high level task force of the Cabinet secretariat of government of India in a meeting held at the secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting was co-chaired by the secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes secretary Meeta Rajivlochan and Uttarakhand chief secretary Anand Bardhan.
During the meeting, the task force conducted a detailed review of progress in the priority areas identified under the deregulation framework. Strategies for simplifying regulations, reducing compliance burdens and creating an investment friendly environment were also discussed in the meeting.
Pertinently, the deregulation initiative was launched at the initiative of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is being personally monitored by the cabinet secretary, Government of India. It assists States in simplifying and reforming regulations in key areas such as land, building and construction, labour and utilities and granting permissions. The initiative aims to establish a trust-based, transparent and business friendly governance system.
In the meeting the task force appreciated the proactive efforts made by the Uttarakhand government in the field of reforms and encouraged the State to further strengthen inter-departmental coordination and digital integration to sustain the pace of reforms.
Principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, additional secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande, director general and commissioner of Industries Saurabh Gaharwar and other senior officers attended the meeting.
