Central provisions to transform economy and livelihood in mountainous regions: CM
The measures announced by Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday will strengthen agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and other related spheres. Stating this, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Uttarakhand will benefit considerably from the provisions made for agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, bee-culture and herbal cultivation. This will bring about a positive change in the economy and local livelihoods especially in the mountainous regions of the state. Rawat said that the development of mountain agriculture has been a major part of the state government’s policy. The State is also a major centre for herbs. A provision of Rs 4,000 crore is being made for herbal cultivation. This mainly includes the development of a herbal corridor along the Ganga river, he said.
The CM further said that the provisions announced on Friday will strengthen the agricultural infrastructure in Uttarakhand. The produce of the state will get better rates with facilities like cold storage and marketing of the agricultural produce. Stating that animal husbandry and fisheries will also receive support, the CM said that employment opportunities are definitely going to be available for the youth of the state in agriculture and related businesses. He appealed to the youth of the state to come forward in agriculture, animal husbandry, herbal farming, fishery and food processing and participate in the development of the state. The State government will provide all type of support to them, he assured.
