CDO urges SHGs to opt for ganoderma mushroom farming

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the chief development officer of Uttarkashi district Jai Kishan said that in view of the ascending demand of ganoderma mushroom, the self-help groups should increasingly engage themselves in such farming, adding that this would not just generate extra income for the villagers but transform the quality of their life. He inspected the ganoderma mushroom farming in Makhana village under Purola development block.
Notably, ganoderma mushroom farming is now going on in several states across India with the people increasingly opting for it. Endowed with immense medicinal properties, it is supposed to fight cancer, ulcer, diabetes, swelling of joints, skin infection and bacterial infection.
He stressed on engaging self-help groups based in the district in ganoderma mushroom farming as it provides good returns. Its market price varies from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 per kilogram. He further said that Uttarkashi district has immense potential in this farming and the people associated with self-help groups should use this to the maximum extent as a means of decent income generation.
