Stellar performance by govt schools in Dehradun region
The students of Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalayas (JNV) and Central Tibetan Schools Association (CTSA) Schools of Dehradun region performed exceptionally well in the All India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE) examination (Class XII) of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The result of this examination was declared on Monday. The overall pass percentage of the Dehradun region was 83.22 percent. The pass percentage of KVS was 99.04 percent while the CTSA and JNV had a pass percentage of 98.42 and 97.65 respectively. As compared to the stellar performance of KVS, CTSA and JNV schools, the much hyped private schools of Dehradun region fared poorly. These schools had a pass percentage of 82.77 only. The girl students outshined boys again this year. In Dehradun region the girls had a pass percentage of 87.02 while only 80.48 percent of boys of Dehradun region could clear the examination.
Expressing satisfaction at the results, the regional officer of CBSE, Dehradun region Ranbir Singh said that the pass percentage of the region has witnessed a jump of 9.65 percent this year. In the year 2019, the region had a pass percentage of 73.57 as compared to 83.22 percent this year. He said that the performance of the region assumes significance as the many schools of NOIDA and districts of Uttar Pradesh were removed from Dehradun region. The region covers all 13 districts of Uttarakhand and eight districts of Uttar Pradesh.
The data of CBSE shows that 61994 students were enrolled for class XII examination this year out of which 61245 appeared in the examination. The reorganisation resulted in a decrease in the number of schools this year in the Dehradun region. As compared to 1201 schools of last year, the region had 764 schools this year.
Vatsal Bindal of Delhi Public School (DPS) Saharanpur scored 499 marks out of 500 to secure first position in the region.
