The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned the former Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) head Bobby Panwar for questioning in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) paper leak case. The CBI sent him a notice to appear on Monday.
The UKSSSC graduate level exam paper leak came to light on September 21 when the photograph of a page of the question paper was allegedly taken out from one of the centres. This information first reached Panwar, who later informed the media and shared the screenshot. After this, the UBS claimed that the paper was leaked. An FIR was then filed at Raipur police station.
In the police investigation, it was found that an examinee named Khalid took a photo of the question paper with a mobile phone he had hidden. He sent the photo to his sister Saabiya. She then forwarded it to Suman Chauhan, an assistant professor in a government college in Tehri district.
On September 22, the police detained Chauhan and later arrested Khalid and Saabiya. At first, the police released Chauhan because she did not know the source of the leaked page. However, following consistent protests by youth, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recommended a CBI inquiry. The CBI registered the case on October 26.
As the CBI investigation moved further, the agency found Chauhan involved in the conspiracy and arrested her on Friday. She was sent to judicial custody after being presented in the special CBI court on Saturday.
Meanwhile, responding to the CBI notice, Panwar said that he will fully cooperate with the investigation. He said that since he himself had demanded a CBI inquiry in the case, it is his duty to support the investigation.
