A seven-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh on Friday in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitments and purchases made during the tenure of former director Ravi Kant. The CBI officials reportedly questioned various medical officers and scrutinised documents and hospital records, as per the official sources. The officials said that the search was conducted by a CBI team led by deputy superintendent of police Rajeev Chandola. They said that the CBI analysed several documents and sought additional documents related to the alleged irregularities in AIIMS which were provided to the team by the administration. The CBI had also conducted similar raids at AIIMS, Rishikesh in February last year as well and registered two separate cases against five people, former AIIMS employees, in April, 2022. According to the officials, five of the then AIIMS officials allegedly favoured a bidder during the tender process of a compact road sweeping machine that caused a loss of about Rs two crore to the institute.
