Two brothers from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh have been arrested for allegedly murdering their father in Ramnagar area of Nainital district. The duo allegedly killed him as he was planning to sell his ancestral land.
The police found the body of Salim Ali (65) inside a hut in village Puchhdi on November 13. After the forensic experts collected evidence from the scene, the police initially suspected the victim’s two sons. Investigation had revealed that Ali had two sons—Naeem and Nazim—from his first wife. Both lived in Maheshpur in Moradabad district. Where the family owned an ancestral house. Ali wanted to sell this ancestral house, but both his sons were against it.
On November 12 he had gone to the Moradabad Tehsil to finalise the land registry but the task could not be completed and he returned home. Meanwhile, Naeem and Nazim planned the murder and on the same night, both reached Ali’s house in Ramnagar on a motorcycle. He was sleeping inside the hut when the two allegedly attacked him one after the other with a stick, hitting him on the head and killing him on the spot. They then fled on a motorcycle.
Police later arrested both the accused. During interrogation, they claimed they were very poor and that Ali had earlier sold property and wasted the money on alcohol, without giving them a share. They purportedly killed him out of anger and frustration.
