The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) imposed Rs 10,000 fine on Blinkit under anti-littering provisions during a field inspection conducted on Friday morning, for allegedly littering in the Sun Park area.
The company was found responsible for improper disposal of garbage, contributing to environmental negligence in the locality, the Dehradun chief municipal health officer Dr Avinsah Khanna said. He informed that during the same inspection, conducted at about 7 AM, officials also found a large quantity of stagnant water in a vacant plot located on Seemadwar Road in the Indiranagar area.
On further examination, mosquito larvae were detected in the accumulated water. The plot is owned by Anupam Gupta, who was issued a fine of Rs 10,000 on the spot for violating public health and sanitation norms, Khanna said. He stated that the fines are part of the corporation’s wider efforts to control mosquito breeding and manage solid waste during the current humid and rainy weather conditions.
These inspections are being carried out to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases and to ensure accountability among property owners and commercial entities. He also appealed to all citizens, businesses and institutions to maintain cleanliness and avoid creating conditions that lead to waterlogging or garbage accumulation.
Khanna said that regular checks will continue in residential and commercial areas to strengthen urban hygiene and environmental management. Residents have also been encouraged to report violations through official channels, enabling the corporation to take timely action and uphold public health standards across the city, he added.
