The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee will provide its Dharmshalas and rest houses to pilgrims on the Yatra route in case of disasters. Issuing this order, the BKTC chairman Hemant Dwivedi expressed grief at the Dharali disaster on Tuesday while also appealing to the pilgrims to visit the Char Dham while taking cognisance of the weather forecast.

Dwivedi further said that the committee has issued official orders to provide shelter free of cost in its Dharmshalas and rest houses on the Yatra route to the pilgrims in case of disaster or heavy rain. The BKTC officials said that heavy rain had also caused blockage on the routes to Badrinath and Kedarnath at various sites due to which the pilgrims are unable to reach their destination on time.

The BKTC has decided to come to the help of the pilgrims for accommodation in such a situation. It is pertinent to mention here that the BKTC has Dharmshalas/rest houses in Rishikesh, Devprayag, Tehri, Ghanshali, Pauri, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Guptkashi, Sonprayag, Chamoli, Nandprayag, Jyotirmath and Badrinath where pilgrims are provided accommodation at nominal rates.
