The Bharatiya Janata Party has praised the efforts being taken by the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to eradicate corruption in Uttarakhand.
BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that the party government is working on a policy of zero tolerance for corruption. It is a result of pursuing this policy that a number of accused including IAS and IFS officers, among others, have been sent to jail so far. Following the policy laid out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP government is committed to eradicating corruption in Uttarakhand, he said.
Talking to media persons regarding the action taken against two officials accused of taking bribes on Friday, the BJP State chief said that stern action is necessary against corruption. “Since assuming office the Dhami government has followed a policy of zero tolerance for corruption. As a result of this, more than 150 persons accused of corruption have been apprehended by the authorities so far.
The recruitment exams are being held in a fair manner after action was taken against the copying mafia. IAS and IFS officers, engineers, GST assistant commissioner, an AE of the Public Works Department, RTO employees, assistant general manager of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, block education officer, district excise officer, a personnel at the CM helpline and others too have not been spared if found indulging in corruption,” Bhatt said.
He further assured the people of Uttarakhand that the fight against corruption will continue without disruption under the Dhami government. Nobody who indulges in scams or seeks bribes will be able to evade action from the authorities. This is because the Vigilance Establishment and Police are taking effective action on the directions of the CM. Swift action is also being taken on the complaints communicated to the government’s toll-free number.
The BJP State president said that the party believes that eradicating corruption is necessary for building a developed State, adding that the government is working effectively on this aspect.
