The Bharatiya Janata Party will take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on the local for vocal initiative from his 122nd Mann Ki Baat episode to every household across the State. The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also thanked Modi for mentioning Haldwani-based artisan Jeevan Chandra Joshi during the broadcast.
Bhatt said the reference serves as an encouragement for others in the field of handicrafts. Bhatt participated in the programme while in Delhi and said that the episode held special significance for the people of Uttarakhand.
He said that PM Modi spoke about Joshi’s work in crafting items from pine bark despite physical challenges. Bhatt stated that the PM’s mention will help highlight the relevance of Joshi’s work on a national and global scale. He said that the local for vocal initiative continues to contribute to the development of Uttarakhand. He also highlighted the role of indigenous defence production during Operation Sindoor, where Indian-made weapons were used.
He said that India now manufactures 80 per cent of its defence equipment and Uttarakhand must also focus on increasing the use and production of local products. He added that BJP workers will work to raise awareness about the local for vocal policy among the general public.
Bhatt said that Uttarakhand residents have the skills and capacity to strengthen the local economy and called for increased participation in local consumption and manufacturing.
