Concern- Covid-19 cases on rise in U’khand

One death, 42 new cases reported on Saturday

Amid threat created by the Omicron variant of Covid-19, the numbers of the cases of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand are increasing. On Saturday the state health department reported the death of one patient and 42 new cases of the disease. A total of 34 patients were reported cured from the disease on the day.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,44,766 while a total of 3,30,920  patients have recovered from the disease so far.  One patient of Covid-19 was reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Saturday which increased the death toll from the disease to 7416 in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is at 95.98 per cent while the sample positivity rate on Saturday was 0.27 per cent. The state health department reported 21 new patients from Dehradun, nine from Pithoragarh, five from Nainital, two each from Haridwar and Tehri and one each from Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarkashi and Pauri on Saturday. No new cases were found in the remaining five districts on the day.

 The state now has 237 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun with 81 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Haridwar has 43 active cases of the disease. Bageshwar is the only district in the state which has no active cases of the disease now.  In the ongoing vaccination drive, 38,503 people were vaccinated in 882 sessions in the state held on Saturday.
