BJP MLAs meet Dhami, seek cancellation of controversial UKSSSC exam

A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs met chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday and requested him to cancel the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level examination in the interests of students. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the CM on behalf of the party. The said exam has already elicited protests and considerable criticism from the opposition due to the alleged lead with the chief minister having recently agreed to the demand for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Meeting Dhami at his office in the secretariat, the delegation appreciated him for facilitating government jobs for more than 25,000 youths and assuring a CBI probe in the UKSSSC exam paper leak case. The MLAs also communicated the thoughts and sentiments of the students regarding this matter to the CM.
MLAs Khajan Das, Dilip Singh Rawat, Vinod Kandari, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Durgeshwar Lal, Suresh Chauhan, Mohan Singh Bisht and Renu Bisht were part of the delegation which submitted a memorandum to the chief minister on behalf of the BJP. The memorandum mainly requests the CM to consider the cancellation of the recently held UKSSSC graduate-level exam in the interests of the students. Talking to media persons after meeting the CM, Rajpur Road MLA Das said that the MLAs thanked Dhami for facilitating appointment of more than 25,000 candidates to government jobs. “We told him that after the paper leak matter was revealed, he showed a big heart and went among the protesting students while also announcing a CBI probe according to their wishes. Even at that time the CM had assured that the State government will take whichever step is necessary in the future too for ensuring a better future for the students,” Das said. All the MLAs said that the students and the future of the State and nation, considering which it was the wish of those in the delegation that there should not be any doubt in the minds of the students. To ensure this, the recently held graduate-level UKSSSC examination should be cancelled, they said. Even before this, the State government has ordered a probe by a special investigation team in the matter to ascertain the irregularities and those responsible for the same. Still, the CM recommended a CBI probe in the matter so that there is no doubt regarding the transparency in the examination system in the mind of any student, the BJP MLAs said.
Purola MLA Lal said that the MLAs had talked to the students and their parents in their respective constituencies. As public representatives they had conveyed the sentiments of the public to the CM. As all wish a good future for the students, the party has requested the CM to consider cancelling the exam in the interests of the students.
