Saturday, 10 September 2022 | PNS  | DEHRADUN

The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has directed the officials to take action against the school administration that allows parking of school vans on roads rather than on their own premises resulting in major traffic woes in various parts of the city on a daily basis. Kumar stated this during a community dialogue event on traffic management in Dehradun on Friday.

Talking on the major traffic congestion that occurs during school timings, he said that those schools which manage the traffic properly at the opening and closing timings will be made role models in the city. Their traffic management model to manage the traffic during peak hours outside the schools will be implemented in other schools too, added Kumar. He said that the school authorities should also conduct regular meetings to tackle the traffic issue during school timings.

He said that the students selected in the Junior Traffic Force in the past will be included as traffic volunteers too. The cadets of NCC and NSS volunteers in schools and colleges will also be included as volunteers. The DGP also informed that traffic personnel will be trained in the basic life support programme like SDRF personnel.

He said that Mohalla Traffic Committees will also be formed in each locality of Dehradun. The traffic police will conduct regular meetings with the members of such committees to tackle the traffic issues of the area concerned.

The DIG of Traffic Directorate Mukhtar Mohsin, Dehradun SP of Traffic Akshay Konde and SSP Daleep Singh Kunwar were also present in the event.
