Bharatiya Janata Party State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that the leadership change in Congress and the formation of a new committee is an attempt to shift attention from factionalism. He stated that, as in the past, the committee will not affect election results and the public is aware of every activity of Congress. Answering questions from journalists on Sunday, Bhatt said that the faces included in the committee represent major factions within Congress. The public is well aware of them. While it remains to be seen how much benefit Congress gains from this move, new factions have certainly emerged. Bhatt claimed that discussions are ongoing within Congress that senior leaders have been given hints to retire. He added that Congress’ organisational structure and strategy is a private matter but its negative response to development work is contrary to facts. Bhatt said that Uttarakhand is a model State in making bold laws against corruption and mismanagement and propaganda alone will no longer win elections, citing Bihar as an example. “Those involved in corruption and mismanagement could not succeed despite promoting good governance and the public rejected them. The message in Uttarakhand is clear that the public will not tolerate negativity,” Bhatt said. He stated that Uttarakhand is progressing in development and moving towards becoming a leading State in the next decade. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is guiding the State and that projects worth thousands of crores are ongoing. Every sector in the state is advancing, and the PM continues to provide support through his visits. Bhatt said that the public trusts BJP and this will continue to be effective in 2027 Vidhan Sabha elections.
