Bindra gives Hemkund Yatra update to Governor

The governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh met the vice president of the Hemkund Sahib management trust, Narendrajeet Singh Bindra in Raj Bhawan on Wednesday.

 In the meeting the governor sought information about Hemkund Sahib Yatra and the status of the construction works in the Yatra route. Bindra told the governor that many works are being undertaken for ensuring safe Yatra for the pilgrims. He said the union government has approved a sum of Rs 48 crore for the Badrinath highway and the tender for the work has been issued. Work on broadening of the curves of the road is in progress. Bindra said that construction of a helipad in Hemkund Sahib has been done which would help in relief and rescue works during disaster. He said that the tender for construction of ropeway for Hemkund sahib would be soon released. Bindra said that construction of toilets and rain shelters are being done on the Yatra route between Ghangharia and Hemkund Sahib. He said that bridges have been repaired and other works for the safety of pilgrims have been done.
