ITBP a synonym for valour and compassion: CM Rawat

Says that the state government is standing firmly behind the ITBP and assures every possible cooperation to the force

The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat participated in the ‘flag in’ ceremony for expeditions for Gangotri -II and six peaks at Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Seemadwar campus here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that ITBP and Uttarakhand have a deep and strong relationship and the force has about 11000 personnel from Uttarakhand and more than 40000 had served ITBP in the past. Terming ITBP as synonym of valour and compassion, the CM said that our brave soldiers are showing their mettle in the border areas. He said that Uttarakhand is prone to natural disasters and the ITBP personnel have extended full support to the state government during these disasters. CM said that the state government is standing firmly behind the force and assured every possible cooperation to ITBP. He said that Uttarakhand is now a major attraction for tourism globally and the state offers Chardham Yatra, eco tourism, trekking, adventure and winter sports. Rawat added that the state government is working on 13 districts 13 destinations and has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ITBP regarding beautification of Ganga and promotion of water sports in the state.

The Inspector General (IG) HQ, Northern Frontier, Nilabh Kishore welcomed CM on the occasion and handed over the flag to him. The deputy Inspector General DIG) Kunwar Pal Singh, Mandhir Ekka, Ranjit Singh and NIM Colonel Amit Bisht were present on the occasion.

ITBP undertakes successful expeditions to Gangotri and six unnamed peaks  

The ITBP had undertaken an expedition to scale six anonymous peaks in the month of September. The expedition was led by the DIG Aparna Kumar. The eight member team successfully annexed six peaks of more than six thousand meters located in the high Himalayan region. The force also undertook an expedition to scale Gangotri-2 peak (21615 Ft) under deputy commandant Deependra Man and successfully accomplished it. This team had 26 mountaineers. In the programme held on Wednesday, the CM Trivendra Singh Rawat felicitated all the members of these expeditions.
