Bhatt’s reinstatement reflects lack of internal democracy in BJP: Congress

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The Congress has said that the reinstatement of Mahendra Bhatt on the post of the party’s State president has reaffirmed that there is no internal democracy in the BJP. The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni said that the fact that only Bhatt filed nomination for the post of BJP State president and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present in the nomination process proves internal democracy has become only a showpiece in BJP.
She said that the BJP has many capable leaders and the names of Gajraj Bisht, Khajan Das, Aditya Kothari, Jyoti Gairola and others were making rounds as possible candidates for State president but the presence of CM with Bhatt has given a clear message that orders were given to other candidates to stay low.
Dasauni said that the BJP had given the principle of ‘one person, one post’ but is openly flouting it. She said that Ajay Bhatt too had held dual responsibility as leader of opposition and the BJP State president from 2012 to 2017.
Terming the first tenure of Mahendra Bhatt as a failure and controversial, Dasauni said that indiscipline remained at peak during his tenure. She said that Bhatt failed to rein in leaders such as Prem Chand Agarwal, Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ and others. Dasauni added that the reappointment of Bhatt is a blow to democracy and is a direct proof of the tendency for dictatorship in the BJP.
