Bhatt says BJP will win Panchayat elections, claims Congress still trying delaying elections

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt has claimed that the party will win all 12 district Panchayat presidents seats on the agenda of development. He stated that the party office bearers and MLAs are actively working at the grassroots level to ensure the victory of BJP-backed candidates while the opposition is still attempting to delay the elections through political tactics.

On the first day of his four-day visit, Bhatt reached Sahaspur in Dehradun where he was welcomed by party workers at Sudhowala, Selaqui, Sahaspur, Herbertpur and Vikasnagar. He held a review meeting in Vikasnagar with party workers involved in the Sahaspur and Vikasnagar Panchayat elections, along with district presidents, in-charges, co-incharges, assembly observers and convenors.

While addressing the media, Bhatt said that the BJP follows a single election strategy- to win people’s trust through the unity and enthusiasm of its workers and by highlighting the party’s achievements. He added that general secretaries, office bearers and MLAs are reaching out to people in every village, requesting them to install a third engine of development by supporting BJP in these elections, just as they did in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls.

Bhatt expressed confidence in securing a sweeping victory, claiming that the party is likely to exceed its previous performance of winning 10 district Panchayat chairperson seats and will now capture all 12. He also asserted that the BJP will dominate among the 89 block Pramukh posts. He emphasised that these elections are also focused on development and that the people of Uttarakhand are witnessing progress first hand.

According to him, the consistent support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reflects the trust people have in their leadership. Taking aim at the Congress, Bhatt alleged that the opposition leaders are still trying political tricks to defer the elections. He said that they lack the courage to face the public and instead remain confined to their homes and offices, calculating ways to delay the electoral process. He also claimed that some opposition members have already started preparing for their defeat.
