Bharat active, limit social media time & discussion to prevent anxiety on India-Pakistan situation

Experts said that individuals should limit their focus on social media and discussions surrounding the escalating tension between India and Pakistan to alleviate feelings of panic and fear. This advice comes in light of the recent execution of Operation Sindoor, which was carried out following the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Following escalation of tension following the kinetic retaliation, many people are experiencing significant distress, causing some to rush to grocery stores to stock up on essential supplies for their homes.
A grocery store owner named Vinod (name changed) said that the fear of a potential war between India and Pakistan has significantly increased among the residents in Dehradun too. As a result, people are visiting his shop to stock up on essential items. He said that many individuals feel uncertain about the future and believe it is wise to be prepared in advance.
Clinical neuropsychologist Dr Sona Kuashal Gupta emphasised that in light of the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the people are being significantly impacted. Many are experiencing fear, panic, anxiety, insomnia and stress. She said that she has been receiving calls from individuals seeking counselling, as they are grappling with anxiety and fear in the current situation. She advised that people should try to divert their thoughts away from this situation, as persistent fear can lead to hypertension and blood pressure issues among other health concerns. She encouraged individuals to maintain their well-being during thisumq period by distracting themselves and concentrating on their daily activities. She recommended checking the news only once a day, avoiding social media and refraining from discussions about war and the current state of panic, as such conversations can exacerbate their fears.
She encouraged everyone to maintain a positive outlook and foster a healthy environment in their surroundings. Additionally, she stressed the importance of parents playing a crucial role during this time in the lives of their children. Rather than instilling fear, parents should discuss with their children the significance of freedom, patriotism and similar values.
Clinical psychologist Dr Pratibha Sharma said that the current situation has given rise to feelings of fear, anxiety and stress among the population. She advised that individuals should take time to calm their minds to help mitigate panic attacks. Dr Sharma said that authorities are doing their part, and it is essential for the public to remain supportive in a constructive way. She recommended avoiding social media during this time, engaging in yoga and meditation, and finding activities to distract themselves. People should concentrate on cultivating a positive atmosphere in their surroundings, she said.
