Balika Niketan a symbol of women’s empowerment: Arya

Lauding the academic performance of the inmates of Balika Niketan, the State Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister, Rekha Arya said that it has become a  symbol of women empowerment in the society. 

She made this remark while inaugurating two newly constructed halls in Nari Niketan and Balika Niketan on Wednesday. Currently, 164 orphaned, abandoned and destitute girls and women reside in the Government Women Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre in Kedarpuram, Dehradun.

During the event, Arya highlighted the exceptional academic performance of the girls at Balika Niketan over the past three to four years which demonstrates their strong mentality and resilience.  “Many girls have achieved success in government jobs while others are preparing for examinations such as PCS,” she said. 

She also engaged with the children and their families to learn about the former’s progress under MukhyaMantri Vatsalya Yojana.
