Bageshwar municipality contracts scrap collection

The Bageshwar municipality has contracted scrap dealers. This system which was started in October is expected to enhance public convenience, streamline waste disposal and also enhance the revenue of the municipality. About 20 scrap collectors are being deployed for 11 wards of the municipality. They are also being issued identity cards by the municipality.

The municipality executive officer Rajdev Jayasi said that the city generates about five tonnes of garbage daily. More than 100 people are deployed to clear this trash. Apart from this, the municipality has entered into a contract for collecting scrap. The municipality is expected to earn about Rs 1.5 lakh per month from this initiative.
