Badrinath decked up in flowers for ritual closure today

For its ritual closure for the winter scheduled on Saturday, the Badrinath temple has been decked up in about 20 quintals of flowers. The closure of Badrinath to the public for the winters will mark the end of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand with the other three shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath having been closed to the public earlier.

While 2,768 people visited the Badrinath temple on Friday, a total of 1,91,106 people have visited this shrine this year so far. The Char Dham Devasthanam Management Board media in-charge Harish Gaur said that ahead of the ritual closure of Badrinath temple on Saturday, the Badrinath Pushp Sewa Samiti, Rishikesh has decorated the temple with about 20 quintals of flowers. Marigold, lotus and other flowers and leaves have been used to decorate the shrine. He further informed that a total of about five lakh people had visited the Char Dham shrines so far this year. Apart from the 1,91,106 who visited Badrinath, 2,42,712 visited Kedarnath, 33,166 visited Gangotri and 33,306 visited Yamunotri totaling to about 5,00,290.
