Difference in action and words of govt: Pritam Singh
Expressing apprehension on the motive of the state government on the issue of agitation of students of private Ayurveda colleges even as it has released an order for strict enforcement of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) order, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Pritam Singh has said that there is difference in words and action of this government. Addressing media persons at state office of Congress party here on Saturday, he said the Congress had raised the issue of hike issue of Ayurveda colleges fee hike in state assembly on December 6, 2018 and responding to it the Ayush Minister Harak Singh Rawat had said that the Uttarakhand HC has revoked the fee hike and directed the colleges to refund the excess fee and the state administration has also directed the colleges to accept the HC order. “The Minister had said that the government can cease the amount of Rs 1 crore which these colleges have submitted as bank guarantee and refund the fee of students if these colleges fail to follow the HC order. One full year has elapsed since this statement was made by the minister in the assembly and the defiance of private colleges is continuing. In such situation, how one can believe in the new order?’’ asked PCC chief. He said that the agitating students have suspended their stir but if their demand of fee refund and roll back on fee hike is not accepted by the colleges then the Congress party would launch a massive state-wide agitation.
