Awareness campaign for EVM and VVPAT for the villagers launched

In order to spread awareness regarding the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) in the village areas of the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, the state chief electoral officer Sowjanya flagged off 21 vehicles to be used for the awareness programme on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “The campaign has been launched to make the people living in the villages aware of  the EVM and VVPAT which would be used in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The campaign would be conducted for one month.” She further said that the VVPAT machine along with Ballot Unit (BU) and Control Unit (CU) is like a printer in which a voter can see his or her vote cast in favour of the chosen candidate. “To take the awareness programme to every corner , the vehicles would be sent to the villages across the State. A proper route chart for all the 21 vehicles has been made and as per it,  one vehicle would cover at least three to four villages in a day. We hope that the programme would be immensely successful,’’ she added. Wednesday, 16 January 2019 | PNS | Dehradun
